Zimarra

Am Renaissancefest in Krumau wollte ich dieses Jahr italienisch unterwegs sein. Da ich meinen Luucrezia-Mantel aus dunkelblauem Samt einfach nicht finde und die Nächte in Krumau kalt und feucht sein können, musste zwei Tage davor noch schnell etwas Warmes her. Und daher ist diese Zimarra auch sicher keine große Nähkunst. Trotzdem mag ich das Tragegefühl.

Ich hatte noch blauen Stoff und viel schwarze Samtborte daheim. Gebraucht habe ich dafür 4 Meter Stoff und gute 9 m Borte, was eigentlich mehr hätte sein können. Der Mantel hat einen A-Schnitt, er sitzt nur im Schulterbereich bis zur Brust und fällt dann weit. Dummerweise wurden mir die Ärmel zu kurz.

Die Frisur ist übrigens einem Gemälde von Botticelli nachempfunden.

At the Renaissance festival in Krumau I wanted this year to wear Italian. I cannot find my Lucrezia coat made of dark blue velvet and the nights could be cold and wet in Krumau so I had to make something new and warm two days before the start. And so this Zimarra is no great piece of sewing. But I like the feel of it worn nonetheless.

I had this blue velvet at home and a lot of black velvet ribbon. I needed 4 metres of fabric and a bit more than 9 metres ribbon though there could have been more of that. The mantle has a A line cut, fits only on the shoulders and bust and falls widely down from there. Stupidly I made the sleeves too short.

The hairdo is based on a painting by Botticelli.
